At West Career and Technical Academy I am currently in the Bio-Med program. I applied here for Bio-Med because I am interested in Forensic Science. I believe this interest started when I was younger I was interested in reading detective and mystery books. I would start with one then I couldn’t stop. My mom was also interested in crime and murder and she had always watched a show named Castle. Once she noticed what type of books I was reading and how interested in them I was she allowed me to stay up and see if I like the show. I ended up loving it, I would be able to figure out who the Murderer was before Kate and Castle did (Detective Kate Beckett, and Richard Castle are the main characters solving the crime). Soon it was like a game to me, to see how fast I could figure it out. Writing down the clues, and piecing together the information was fun to me. When I was in eighth grade my mom showed me a few catalogs of the magnet schools. She started explaining to me that I could go to a high school that would better help me try and find a career that I was passionate about and could help me get into a good college. I narrowed my options to Rancho HS, WCTA, and NCTA. I ended up getting put into the alternate pool at each school, but I still wanted to study crime. So I went to Palo because they have a Forensic Science elective. Once I was accepted to WCTA I was very excited to be in the Bio-Med Program. I hope to be a Crime Scene Investigator and I hope that being in this program will help. I’m already having so much fun I can’t wait for the rest of this year.
