Who has been the most influential person in your life? Why?
My father has always kept me doing my best. He’s helped me with school, sports, life, but most importantly, my education. My dad has always kept me on my two feet; he works hard hours to put food on our table, a roof over our heads, a bed to sleep in, and clothes to wear. We, Hispanics, are looked down upon because of our skin color. People assume that we’re not as smart, as honest, as trustworthy, and as hardworking as others. My father changed my way of thinking, therefore, that is not true; I sleep late at night finishing up homework, I study for tests, I do my chores, and I do the best I can everyday. Do we make mistakes? Of course we do, we’re human. Are we perfect? Not at all. I’m just saying that it would be nice to be looked at equally, and I hope that one day I can change the way society thinks. He reminded me that everyone is different. Everyone is unique. Everyone matters.
