What’s my most traumatic experience? Well, my cousin was a police officer in Mexico. I don’t know if they do this in other places besides Mexico, but my cousin and other police officers were dropping off the chief at his house one night, and they were jumped by a gang. This gang was already after the chief for quite some time, and that night was the night they were going to try and kill him. My cousin was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and ended up being shot in the head by a bullet. Nobody knew right away if he was dead. But the next day, we looked in the newspaper, and it was kind of freaky. There was an image of a man taped up, and one arm sticking out. As soon as we saw it, we knew it was him by the rings on his hand and the tattoos on his arm. It’s kind of weird that we still have one of his necklaces since it still has his blood on it. I think my mom should probably wash it, but whatever. But to move off of this, my favorite memory is probably when I met my nephew. When I first saw him, all he did was cry all the time. So I picked him up, and just like that, he stopped crying. It was almost as if we had a special bond from the start.
What inspires me? I’d have to say my family does because I want to be better than them. I mean, my cousins graduated college and all, but they haven’t done anything that impressive after that. So I want to be the exception and do something that they never have. For example, one thing I would want to do is to become a nurse, or something that helps people in some way. I’m in the nursing program here at WCTA, so it could happen for me. I’m in the nursing program because of my grandma. When she was dying, all I wanted to do was help her, so I started nursing to learn how to help others. So, I guess I’ll just see where life ends up taking me.
