When I was one year old and still living in the Philippines, my father passed away. Leading to my mother leaving and going to the Philippines for 8 years. When she left, I ended up staying with my grandparents. From that time, my siblings and I were split up, overall there were six of us, four of them being half siblings. I was the only one who lived with my grandparents though because in Chinese culture the middle child isn’t seen as equal to the other kids. Living with my grandparents was a bit harsh, this is because they were ‘old fashioned’ and strict. However i am glad that they disciplined me and taught me how to behave because it made molded me into the person I am today. When I was 9, my mom came back to the Philippines and took my full blood siblings and myself back to america with her.Growing up in america was a huge change, this is mainly because I didn't speak any english yet and I now had a stepfather and a little sister. However having my family here and helping me made adjusting to america easier. Now that I am more comfortable with living here, it has given me more opportunities to become successful and to be able to help my family in the Philippines.
